The Blue Mountain Chapter of Safari Club International is seeking qualified students and teaching professionals interested in an amazing outdoor learning experience

SCI’s Blue Mountain Chapter invites you to consider those young people and/or adult professionals in your life who would benefit from attending the American Wilderness Leadership School near Jackson Hole, Wyoming. For more than 20 years, the Blue Mountain Chapter has sponsored SCI’s legacy of supporting young people, educators, conservation leaders and others in related career fields for this exceptional personal enrichment opportunity through direct sponsorships.

awlsThe American Wilderness Leadership School (AWLS) experience presents a base knowledge of wildlife ecology and conservation together with land management issues. Training is provided through a combination of classroom and outdoor hands-on experiences.

In week-long programs, adult educators are enriched by field activity including outdoor education lesson plans, plant identification, map and compass use, firearm safety, fly tying, survival training, and archery. They also meet with experts trained in wildlife management and conservation. AWLS programs are also available for graduate credit through Colorado State University.

Students attending the student session are in for an experience of a lifetime. After the initial shock of no internet or cell service, students find themselves making new friends with bunkmates and sharing stories at the campfire. Experiences are similar to those of the educators, including survival training, firearm safety, archery, fly tying, an overnight backpacking trip and a whitewater rafting trip on the Snake River.

All of this set in the most beautiful scenery along the Granite Creek in Bridger-Teton National Forest.

SCI offers 6 adult AWLS sessions and 1 student AWLS session. Apply now for the 2016 Student Session scheduled from June 29,- July 5, 2016. Students should be 16-18 years of age.
